LPA had the privilege of working with the US Navy to renovate one of the oldest buildings on the Navy base in Guantanamo Bay.  LPA was charged with developing a corrosion assessment and repair program for the century old structure.  LPA accessed the structural damage associated with corrosion of the steel and reinforced concrete structure.  Our engineers determined the extent of damage present through non-destructive methods, we designed repairs for the steel structures that suffered section losses to meet the required loads, we designed repairs for spalled and cracked reinforced concrete elements and we worked with the local general contractor to specify appropriate protective paints/coatings to extended the building’s service life.
